Most of children in Armenian orphanages have parents

The biggest part of children in Armenian orphanages has parents and is in those institutions because of a disability. People working in children’s right field, acting and former ombudsmen from over ten countries of Europe and Central Asia are in Yerevan. They discuss the children’s right to live in a family and exchange reform experience. According to statistics, 80-90 percent of permanent residents of Armenian special institutions has at least one parent and is in the orphanage because of social or health problems.
